State College, Pennsylvania, Oct 30, 2013 — A newly designed website for the Council of the Great City Schools (CGCS) highlights important assets for districts, brings more visibility to social media tools for increased engagement, and improves the user experience on a wide range of devices.
Schoolwires® performed the strategic redesign of the Council’s Centricity2™ website and content management system, incorporating a Responsive Web Design to give visitors a responsive and engaging web experience on a wide range of devices, from desktops to mobile phones and tablets.
"Our organization and the urban school districts we serve are dedicated to the highest standards of educational excellence," said Michael Casserly, Executive Director, CGCS. "Our new and modern website reflects our commitment to innovation and best practices."
The new website, which went live Oct. 24, increases the visibility of the Council’s ground-breaking publications which are highly sought after by visitors, and also highlights the Council’s upcoming events. Social media icons for Facebook, twitter, YouTube, Pinterest and other channels are also prominently displayed.
"The Schoolwires designers did an excellent job of achieving our strategic objectives of making important elements easier to find and more accessible," said Tonya Harris, Communications Manager, Council of the Great City Schools. "The redesign, including its responsiveness to electronic devices, will give our visitors a better online experience with the council."
"We are pleased to help the Council make it easier for their community to access the important resources they need to support their districts, even when they are mobile," said Christiane Crawford, President and Chief Executive Officer, Schoolwires. "The Council’s new website will help its members stay more connected and engaged than ever before."

The Schoolwires Story
Schoolwires is dedicated to K-12 education, and to the people who are part of every local school community — students, families, teachers, administrators, and supporters of education. From the beginning, we’ve believed that a successful school district is a product of total community involvement. That’s why our mobile and Web-based solutions are expressly designed to connect K-12 communities with the information, services and people they need to achieve their district goals. For more than 10 years, our intuitive technologies have been helping administrators and educators, students and parents, communicate and collaborate like never before — to come together around success.
Today, more than 10 million users in the U.S. and China rely on our content management system, mobile solutions and safe collaborative learning community to drive engagement in the classroom, locally and across the globe. We’re proud to be a part of that. And we remain committed to helping K-12 communities extend their local reach and transcend the boundaries of their districts so that individuals everywhere can achieve their full potential.
